Almost a year since the release of his ‘Marisa’ EP on GREEN, Finnish producer Yotto makes a return to the label with a brilliant new brace in ‘Second Life’ and ‘Chemicals’. With both tracks featuring in Yotto’s impressive BBC Essential Mix, the timing couldnt be more perfect for us to unleash these intoxicating numbers. ‘Chemicals’ combines skipping hi-hats with a fuzzy hypnotic bass filtering in and out of focus. Accompanied by Yottos instantly recognizable big room kick drums and soaring synths. On the flip, ‘Second Life’ is a progressive, hot-blooded acidic cut that slowly builds into cascades of bass, synth hooks and triplet percussion rhythms, giving the track a euphoric characteristic but not without an immersive emotional depth.

Cuartero launches limited vinyl series on own new label: CUARTERO CONCEPT
Established techno tastemaker Cuartero is to kick off his own brand new label, CUARTERO CONCEPT. It will be a vinyl-only affair that showcases the artist’s more underground side. Next to material from the Spanish DJ and producer, there will be choice remixes from key heavyweight techno names. The first release comes by him, with a remix from Cocodrils, and features two essential tracks due out on November.
Cuartero is one of his country’s hottest exports right now thanks to his infectious DJ and production style, essential tunes and enthralling sets. Releasing on Desolat, Hot Creations, VIVa Music, Moon Harbour and Knee Deep In Sound, he really knows how to cook up the sort of grooves that both DJs and dancers love. With this new project, though, he is showing his more considered side and is sure to imprint his underground sounds.
The excellent Enderezado is first and is a suspense-filled track which builds the tension before unleashing a driving drum line. Freaky sounds, loose synths and chopped up vocals are laid over the top and it makes for an infectious and silky groove that is brilliantly busy.
Cocodrils then remixes the track into a more peak time tune with rubbery drums, panning percussion and rattling snares. Corse claps, clever bass kills and a distant siren all add to the intensity and ensure this one will make a big impact on the floor.
This is a fine first releases and kicks off what is sure to be a great new label in real style.

Steve Rain’s Hard Times label has been a cornerstone of the house scene since its inception, back in the mid 90s, and it’s still going strong to this day. In fact, we’d say that it’s seen a bit of a revival as of late, and it’s thanks to some breathtaking re-interpretations and remixes that it’s back on our radars. Robert Owens’ magical 1995 piece Come Together is enough of a lure to attract even the most jaded of house aficionados, but we get two tasty remixes to get stuck into here. Malachi is the man to provide the vibes, and his remix is what classic house is all bout – phat-ass beats, deep basslines and ethereal pads guided by angelic r&b vocals. Job’s a good-un. But, there’s the insta dub mix as added material, coming through with even badder bass tones, and more of a jacking swing to lift the floor…and the souls.
