Matt Karmil - Tell Me Why BARN057 Studio Barnhus

GENRE Deep House
QUALITY 320kbps CBR
RELEASE DATE 2018-03-02
4 TRACKS:

  1. Matt Karmil – All Together (Original Mix) 05:04 120bpm A#maj

  3. Matt Karmil – Tell Me Why (Original Mix) 04:17 111bpm Bmin
  4. Matt Karmil – UG (Original Mix) 05:02 137bpm Gmaj

Three years on from his first appearance on Studio Barnhus, multi-talented Matt Karmil returns to the eccentric Swedish imprint. He’s in a surprisingly positive mood on opener “All Together”, a chunky slab of skewed loop-house brilliance whose slipped 4/4 drums come laden with sweet, saucer-eyed samples and jaunty stabs. The celebratory mood is enhanced further by the DJ Sneak style bounce of “Meg”, before he serves up the polyrhythmic madness of “UG”, where synthesized bells, loved-up chords and bombastic sub-bass take centre stage. There’s also a horizontal bonus in the shape of delicate but trippy, soul-fired loop jam “Tell Me Why”. In other words, it’s another must-have from the former Idle Hands, PNN and Beats in Space man.

  4. Fede Lng – Shut’ Em Down (Original Mix) 06:20 122bpm F♯min

A couple of steps down and you’ve entered the grooviest cave of undiscovered strobe light excesses. Smoke machines and automatic funk. If spaghetti and meat balls would produce, they’d be named Fede Lng and Deejay Astral. Bringing serious thumpers to Susan, their ‘Pack The Pipe’ journey is wrapped in pirate material, recognizable vocals and the longing for a never-ending after party after the next after party. Empty your ashtray, crack open six cold ones, turn off the halogen lamps and start thinking.

Eli Escobar - City Song EP CMC284D Classic Music Company

  3. Eli Escobar – City Song Part 2 (Peace, Love and Harmony) (Ron Basejam Remix) 07:59 122bpm Amin

Track #8 from critically acclaimed third album ‘Shout’, ‘City Song’ is Eli Escobar at his refined best. Demonstrating his unique ability to create musical landscapes around a house template, here his reimagining of the track builds layers of context around vocal chops and urban noise, influenced by early Ice Cube albums and how they use ?ambiance and sound effects to paint a picture of the story he was trying to tell?. ‘City Song’ is the moment where the album’s spirits begin to raise, and ‘City Song Part 2 (Peace, Love and Harmony)’ finds yet more hope with filtered snatches of groove. Accompany Eli’s New Version of Part 2, Ron Basejam (aka Jim Baron of Crazy P) goes funkier with richer bass and soul claps, whereas German duo COEO take a refreshingly different direction with their ‘City Song’ remix, punctuating their production with piano and percussion.

  2. James Teej – The Only Constant Is Change (Original Mix) 08:39 122bpm Amaj
  3. James Teej, Greg Paulus – Life Goes On (Original Mix) 06:31 116bpm Gmin

On Opulence’s second release the label welcomes Grammy nominated artist James Teej with his “The Only Constant EP”. Inspired by his budding years DJing, James revisits his early house influences and delivers two powerful cuts of disco infused grooves laced with an overall contemporary touch. The first track “The Only Constant Is Change” is a highly infectious dance floor number reminiscent of classic filtered disco house, arranged with a patient and contemporary restraint. The track’s hypnotic and repetitive nature draws the listener in, and keeps the attention throughout with subtle changes that slowly grow to a tasteful and rewarding climax. On remix duties Opulence has invited Apollonia’s House music legend Dan Ghenacia who delivers a slick deep house rework that keeps the vibes intact of the original with the French artist’s signature groovy machine touch. Already road tested over the summer at DC10, Dan’s remix helps bring the original to a place closer to the club’s dance floor. The 3rd and final song is “Life Goes On”, a grooving disco infused classic deep house cut that features No Regular Play’s Greg Paulus on trumpet. The song perfectly blends the sounds of yesterday with a modern touch and feel, and provides an uplifting soundtrack for any dance floor, especially those magic moments outdoors on the beach. Once again, James continues to show his passion and diversity in his music with this expertly crafted EP that will surely be a welcomed addition to any house lover’s record collection.

QUALITY 320kbps CBR
RELEASE DATE 01/26/2018
3 TRACKS:

  1. Never Dull – Ghetto Juice (Original Mix) 07:54 124bpm Fmaj
  2. Never Dull – Keep On Reachin’ (Original Mix) 07:27 124bpm Amin
  3. Never Dull – Perpetual High (Original Mix) 06:29 125bpm G♯min

Setting off with an uptempo release, Never Dull sets down a relentless groove injected ‘Ruff Soul EP’. It is clear from the beginning where Never Dull’s influences stem from, holding down that Old School aesthetic, with his dusty hats, and hard hitting claps, all sitting beautifully beneath a dusty layer of sample goodness. While introducing a more modern twist to the infectious and legendary house sound.
Each track off of this triple threat vocal EP has a certain sway from it’s end. ‘Ghetto Juice’, ‘Keep on Reachin’ and ‘Perpetual High’, although laced with that certain soul and wavy feel, at their core are pure dance floor hard hitters, made to shake a room and put you in that deep and soulful house state of mind.

  2. Miguel Lobo – Feelings (Oxia Remix) 07:04 123bpm Gmin
  3. Miguel Lobo – Physical Things (Original Mix) 07:08 123bpm Dmin

Nicolas Masseyeff & Oxia’s Diversions label slinks and slides its way into your 2018 with this deliciously groove-laden triplet from Madrid’s Miguel Lobo with Oxia himself on the remix-duties
‘Physical Things’ bubbles and rolls with a shiny bass hook that taps deep into an ageless, heads-down, hip-swaying sense of hypnosis. With added texture coming courtesy of a crucial spoken word sample, this one locks your floor in for the long-haul.
‘Feelings’ continues to build on the timeless, rolling sense of groove-kissed positivity. Just on the right side of chunk and funk, there’s a deep drive coded in every nuance that salutes three house havens at once: NYC’s sass, Chicago’s bumps and Ibiza’s sexiness.
Finally Oxia rolls in with a pristine remix of ‘Feelings’. Maintaining the flared percussion and deep-swinging allure of the original while adding several layered arpeggiated tendrils and emotional chords, he’s highlighted all the best bits and added his own unique, narrative twist.
Spacious, timeless, beautifully groove. Let us know how you’re feeling…
